Greyson Michael Chance was born August 16th 1997 in Wichita Falls, Texas. When he was little his family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. In May 2010, he completed his 6th grade year at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond. His parents are named Scott and Lisa. He has a 16-year-old sister, Alexa, and a 19-year-old brother, Tanner, they are both really into music too.

By the time Greyson was discovered he had three years of piano lessons, but had never taken a vocal lesson. He posted two videos on his youtube account (Greyson97) in April 2010, that he recorded of himself. They were of him playing two original songs ‘Broken Hearts’ and ‘Stars’. He had recently played at a school show that his dad recorded, and since he happened to have that video on the same camcorder he put that on too. That video was the now famous (30 Million views and counting) cover of Paparazzi.

Greysons older brother submitted a link to the paparazzi video to Ellens show, since she had a segment that month ‘Ellen’s Wonderful Web of Wonderment’. Where she looked for talented kids found online, and the winner would get $10,000. Ellen tweeted the video, and then her producers got in contact with Lisa (Greyson’s mother) to get him on the show. Greyson got the call during class and excused himself. At first he didn’t believe the news, but the next day he was on his first ever flight, to go on the Ellen show.

A few days after the appearance Greyson was back on the show to play another song, and so Ellen could announce their new partnership. She had starteda label Eleven Eleven, and Greyson would be her first artist. He also won the $10,000 prize, and was given a new Yamaha piano. Ellen called the record company Eleven Eleven because she first saw Greyson’s vdeo on May 11th, and his soccer jersey number is 11.
